Liouhuang Valley :
Liouhuang Valley is located in the south of Jhongjheng Mountain and Shitan Mountain, north of Dapao Rock, west of Dunxu High School of Industry and Commerce, and the Huangkang River upstream in Beitou. The area was called Dahuangzui, the site where Yu Yong-he of the Qing Dynasty carried out sulfur mining (1697). The area has rich extrusive rock and sedimentary rock resources, as well as cultural background. When the rest of the park is overcast and rainy in winterit is more agreeable here since it is more sheltered, making it a valuable spot for a winter visit.
The valley is 1km long and 80-200m wide. There are fumaroles, mofettes and geothermal warm springs surrounded by plumes of white vapour. As the sources of the Beitou hot springs they are quite spectacular. The Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters provides a series of facilities in the area, including free parking lot (YNPH provides only the parking space and assumes no responsibility for the custody of vehicles parked inside. Visitors are advised not to leave valuable articles or children unattended in their cars), trails, rest shelters, information kiosks, observation platforms, picnic benches and chairs, and mobile toilets.
Longfong Valley :
Upstream of the Huang River in Tianmu and where the Nanhuang River runs across, Longfong Valley is located west of Shamao Mountain and southeast of Dunxu High School of Industry and Commerce. There are fumaroles, mofettes and natural and artificial hot springs in the area. It is a spa center and the source for the spa-restaurants on Xingyi Road. The Park has built trails, foot soaking pools, rest shelters and toilets in the area. There is free parking on the natural open area in the river valley (the visitor center provides only the parking space and assumes no responsibility for the custody of vehicles parked inside. Visitors are advised not to leave valuable articles or children unattended in their cars. The area is often flooded during typhoons as a result of the rising Nanhuang River. Visitors are not recommended to park their cars here when there is a typhoon.)
