Menghuan Pond Ecological Protected Area
The Menghuan Pond Ecological Protected Area is located at the south-eastern side of Mt. Qixing. In winter, mist and fog enshroud the area to form a dreamy winter wonderland. The pond covers an area of approximately 1.0 hectare and has a higher water level in winter; it sometimes dries up in summer. Menghuan Pond is the habitat of the endemic Taiwan Isoetes. In addition, the pond is also home to Eriocaulon chishingsanensis, a flowering aquatic plant, and Latouche’s frog (Rana latouchii).
