蝴蝶家族
蝴蝶是鱗翅目昆蟲，翅膀上密布交疊的鱗粉，用以調節體溫、防禦天敵。臺灣的蝴蝶分為五科

Butterflies belong to the order Lepidoptera.  Their wings are densely covered with overlapping scales, which
help regulate body temperature and protect them from predators. In Taiwan, butterflies are classified into five families. 

 

弄蝶科    Skippers / Hesperiidae

卵半球型。Eggs: Hemispherical. 
幼蟲長筒狀，頭殼花色多變。 Larvae: Slender and cylindrical, with colorful and diverse patterns on the head.
幼蟲常吐絲縫合葉片，築成蟲巢躲藏其中。Behavior: Larvae often construct a hiding shelter by binding leaves together with silk.
蛹為帶蛹。Pupae: Girdled pupae. 
成蝶身體粗壯、飛行迅速，部分種類停棲時似戰鬥機。Adults: Have robust bodies and swift flight. When resting, some species resemble fighter jets.

鳳蝶科          Swallowtails / Papilionidae

 卵圓球型      Eggs: Spherical.
 稚齡幼蟲呈鳥糞狀      Early-instar  larvae: Often mimic bird droppings.
 幼蟲具臭角     Larvae: Possess a defensive organ called an osmeterium.
 蛹為帶蛹      Pupae: Girdled pupae.
 成蝶觸角末端往上勾，腹部從側面明顯可見。Adults: Antennae have upcurved tips; the abdomen is clearly visible from the side.

粉蝶科        Whites and Sulphurs / Pieridae

卵紡錘狀或砲彈型。Eggs: Spindle or bullet-shaped. 
幼蟲長筒狀。Larvae: Slender and cylindrical. 
蛹為帶蛹。Pupae: Girdled pupae. 
成蝶翅膀多為淺色系的白或黃色，鱗粉易脫落。Adults: Wings are mostly pale white or yellow, with easily detached scales.

蛺蝶科     Brush-footed Butterflies / Nymphalidae

卵砲彈型、扁球型、球型等。Eggs: Bullet-shaped, oblate, or spherical.
幼蟲長筒狀，常具肉棘或犄角。Larvae: Slender and cylindrical, often armed with scoli (fleshy spines) or horns.
蛹為垂蛹。Pupae: Suspended pupae. 
成蝶前腳特化縮在胸前，看似只有四隻腳。擅長飛行，具領域性。Adults: Forelegs are reduced and tucked under the thorax, making them look like they only have four legs.  They are strong flyers and exhibit territorial behavior.

灰蝶科     Gossamer-winged Butterflies / Lycaenidae

卵圓盤狀，常有花紋或刻孔。Eggs: Flattened and disc-shaped, often pitted with intricate patterns.
幼蟲外形扁平，具蜜腺，常與螞蟻共生。Larvae: Slug-like (onisciform) and flattened.  They possess a dorsal nectar gland and often have a symbiotic relationship with ants.
稚齡幼蟲刮食嫩葉或蛀食花苞、果實。Behavior: Early-instar larvae scrape young leaves or bore into flower buds and fruits.
蛹為帶蛹。Pupae: Girdled pupae. 
成蝶體型嬌小，翅膀腹面常呈灰、白、褐等低調色彩。Adults: Small in size. The ventral side (underside) of their wings often features subdued colors like gray, white, or brown.
