The ”New Thinking, New Energy - Earth Education Workshop” will run in Taiwan on November 8 - 9 and November 11 - 12
Earth Education was founded in 1974. For more than 30 years, it has held fun and interesting classes that allowed children and the general public to learn more about the earth, get closer to nature, and change their ways of life to become more eco-friendly. The Headquarters is honored to invite Dr. Steve Van Matre, the founder of the Earth Education movement, to Taiwan to give lectures on Earth Education and instruct the essence of designing activities. At 70, Van Matre is still alert and full of energy. He prefers to use wise, rational, but also theatrical teaching methods to inject new energy into his courses and present students with new ways of thinking! The Headquarters has organized the Earth Education Workshop so that people in Taiwan involved in environmental education and nature preservation can learn about the essence of Earth Education as well as its techniques. The workshop will use a series of activities to help participants learn about the working process of the Earth's ecosystem, and will integrate with cognitive, emotional, and technical education goals. It can not only help people develop a positive feeling towards nature, but also ultimately lead them to use what they have learned to change their habits and ways of life. The workshop will cover: 1. Using structured educational methods in response to dangers faced by the planet’s environment. 2. Using more challenging and fun ways to learn and interact with nature. 3. Helping people develop a deeper connection with the earth. 4. The history and methods of Earth Education. 5. Dynamic activity techniques that can better engage the learner. 6. Step-by-step analysis of educational activities about the earth's environment. 7. Experiencing the cognitive and feeling activities of Earth Education. In collaboration with the following organizations : the Society of Wilderness, Friendly Seed Company, and Universe Love Light: The Headquarters will host two workshops at the Yangmingshuwu The Earth Education Workshop (November 8 - 9) and Instructional Design Workshop (November 11 - 12); the purpose of which is to energize environmental education campain in Taiwan.
