Autumn Colors along an Ancient Trail: The Season of Silvergrass and Nostalgic Memories

In the autumn, do you reminisce of frolicking as a child through the swaying silvergrass, or recall watching the sun set amidst a sea of delicate blooms tinted pink and red under a dusky sky? Embark on a journey along the ancient trails of Yangmingshan for breathtaking scenery and nostalgic memories!

Every October, Yangmingshan National Park offers visitors an opportunity to experience the beauty of fall colors by hiking along ancient mountain trails. For city-dwelling hikers, not only does this event provide them with the chance to observe the natural beauty of silvergrass-covered hills and valleys, it is also an occasion on which they may experience the hardships and perseverance of their forefathers, and appreciate the priceless heritage of Taiwan’s cultural history.

The ancient trails offer visitors intimate access to flora and fauna, streams and valleys, as well as historical tales of immense cultural value, such as the historic Jinbaoli Trail along which rural fishmongers used to travel in order to market their catch in Taipei. Yangmingshan National Park tour guides have immense knowledge and experience about the region, and convey their passion and dedication to their native land. It is hoped that participants at the event may be inspired by these tales of history and culture.

Online registration for the event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM on October 1, 2014; the registration fee is NT$ 700 per person. The event will be held on the following dates: 10/18 (Sat.), 10/25 (Sat.), and 10/31 (Fri.), with a maximum of 50 registered participants for each date.
