Butterfly Festival Concert on May 31 at Yangmingshan National Park—Bring Your Families to Enjoy Music with Nature’s Dancing Fairies!

When nectariferous plants such as the Eupatorium shimadae are in high bloom every year from May through July in the Mt. Datun area, Yangmingshan's colorful butterflies, mainly the milkweed butterflies, offer the most beautiful spectacle of nature's dancers. Besides the Datun Butterfly Tour and the Butterfly Ecology Exhibition, the Yangmingshan Headquarters will also be holding a Butterfly Festival Concert to allow visitors to enjoy music while viewing butterflies in their natural habitat.

The Butterfly Festival Concert will be held on May 31 at the Datun Visitor Center from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Mellifluous tunes will be performed by traditional Taiwanese and Chinese musicians from the Chai Found Music Workshop. Songs include “Butterfly,” “Moon Lute,” “Spring Dawn in Yangmingshan,” “Dream of Butterfly,” “Shine with Happiness,” “The Past on the Breeze,” “Tuberose,” and more. We sincerely welcome everyone to attend this remarkable musical event at the Datun Visitor Center.

The Datun Butterfly Tour will take place from May 31 to June 22 at the Erziping Visitor Center every day from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Guided walks can be registered on-site in which professional guides will lead visitors through trails with blooming flowers and dancing butterflies. Information will be given on the butterflies' ecosystem and their relationships with nectariferous plants and the plants they feed on, adding in-depth education to the experience.

The Butterfly Ecology Exhibition will be held from May 31 to July 31 at both the Yangmingshan Headquarters Visitor Center and the Datun Visitor Center. The display will present the beauty of butterflies, their life cycle, and symbiotic relationships with plant life. Event details can be found at Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters' official 2014 Yangmingshan Butterfly Festival webpage. For more information please call: (02) 28613601 ext. 801-810.
