Registration for the 2014 Yangmingshan Cross-Country Race to begin May 26, 2014, at 2:00 PM.

The Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters has announced that it is hosting this zero-pollution, international sporting and leisure event to encourage healthy leisurely activities, promote athletics in Taiwan, and raise awareness for environmentally-friendly, energy-conserving, low-carbon concepts. The official start time for this year's Yangmingshan Cross-Country Race will be 6:00 AM on Sunday, July 13, 2014. The race is currently planned to start and finish at the Yangmingshan Chung-San Hall parking lot. Runners in the Cross-Country event will begin at the parking lot and run along the Yangjin Highway to the Fengkou section of Mt. Zhuzi road and back, covering a total of 21 kilometers. 

The race course will cover the core areas of Yangmingshan National Park, offering picturesque views along the way. Runners can enjoy the wide-open spaces and fresh mountain air as they follow the route. Taking in the spectacular views of the Taipei Basin and the Datun Mountains in Yangmingshan's unspoiled natural environment will surely be an unforgettable experience for runners. Runners who find it difficult to admire nature's beauty while running can choose to take the 108 bus after the race for a tour of Yangmingshan National Park's important destinations. Stops include the park's Headquarters Visitor Center, Yangmingshuwu, Erziping, Xiaoyoukeng, Lengshuikeng, and Qingtiangang, offering visitors the best of Yangmingshan's beautiful summer scenic areas. 

Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters Director Chen Mao-Chun explained that entrants in the 2014 Yangmingshan Cross-Country race will be divided by age into 13 groups, and that anyone interested in running is welcome to participate. The race will include two events: the Cross-Country event (21 kilometers) and the Fun Run event (5.45 kilometers).The race will be limited to 5,000 participants: 3,000 for the Cross-Country event, with a registration fee of NT$500 per person; and 2,000 for the Fun Run event, with a registration fee of NT$300 per person. Registration will be open between 5/26 and 6/6. Online registration only. No registration will be accepted after the participant limits are reached. After completing the online registration form you may pay the registration fee by credit card, or you may bring your registration number to your nearest 7-Eleven convenience store and pay using the ibon console. (Runners taking the event shuttle bus are required to pay the NT$60 transportation fee separately.) The registration fee covers the NT$3 million insurance policy and a free event T-shirt. Runners who complete the Cross-Country event will receive a commemorative medal, and runners who complete the Fun Run event will receive a certificate from the organizers.
