Beginning on Saturday, Taipeis Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall will hold a month-long exhibition in Malaysia featuring the teachings of Sun Yat-sen （孫逸仙）, the curator of the memorial hall said on Wednesday.

Cheng Nai-wen （鄭乃文） told reporters that the exhibition will take place in the Sun Yat-sen Museum on the island of Penang.

He said the works to be displayed at the exhibition will come from the memorial hall collections, including 42 paintings and calligraphic works by renowned contemporary artists in Taiwan.

Also included will be paintings by artist Pai Tsung-jen （白宗仁） depicting the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei and works by artist Wang Nan-hsiung （王南雄） of the Chungshan Building －－ which takes its name from another of Suns monikers －－ on Yangmingshan （陽明山） Cheng said.

Cheng and the Penang Chinese Philomathic Society leaders will preside over the opening of the exhibition on Saturday.

The Penang Philomathic Society was founded by Sun in 1908 and last year the organizations premises in Malyasia were transformed into the Sun Yat-sen Museum.

Sun stayed in Penang for six years to preach revolutionary ideas and draw on the financial support of the areas Chinese community. He and his supporters used Penang as a base to plan the 1911 Canton Uprising in an attempt to overthrow the Manchu government after nine failed uprising attempts.

Although the 1911 uprising also failed, it set in motion the October 10 revolution that toppled the Manchu government the same year.

As founder of the Kuomintang （KMT）, Sun became the first provisional president when the first Chinese republic was founded in 1912. His political philosophy is known as the Three Principles of the People （三民主義） and influenced modern Chinese history.
