Yangmingshan National Park Publishes Educational Book, ”Frogs of Yangmingshan”; In Addition to Providing Fun and Educational Information, QR Codes in the Book Enable Readers to Listen to Actual Recordings of Frog Calls and Learn More About Frog Ecology
Situated to the north of the greater Taipei metropolitan area, Yangmingshan National Park is a true "metropolitan national park". With its unique volcanic terrain, convenient nature, and close proximity to nearby residents, people can go hiking or enjoy a picnic outing in the Park after a short drive from the city. The Park's special geography and heavy rainfall brought by monsoon rains helps nourish abundant ecology, providing local wildlife with a wonderful habitat for foraging, living, and breeding.
The Park also includes a wide diversity of frogs. The skin of frogs is very sensitive, and acutely responds to changes in the environment, such as pollution, making frogs indicative of environmental change. To introduce knowledge about the ecology and the influence of amphibians, Yangmingshan National Park created an array of detailed illustrations to help people better understanding the world of frogs.
The book is written in clear, easy-to-understand language and contains fun and accurate hand-drawn illustrations, allowing readers to explore the world of frogs. With its lively and captivating descriptions, it is a book suitable for the whole family to enjoy. The book introduces the habitats of different species based on the change of seasons and the scenic spots in the Park in addition to presenting detailed illustrations and photographs of frogs. To help readers learn more about amphibians, the book also includes nineteen unique audio recordings of actual frog calls. By simply scanning the QR codes in the book with a smartphone connected to the internet, readers can experience the calls of the wild from the comfort of home.
To bring the book closer to our lives, we name it "Frogs of Yangmingshan". When read aloud in Taiwanese, the title of the book sounds like "I'm in Yangmingshan!" This reminds everyone that happy families of frogs live throughout Yangmingshan National Park. You are invited to visit them with your very own copy of Frogs of Yangmingshan and happily sing along! While you are enjoying your eco tour, we also hope that you realize the importance of ecological conservation and become personally involved in environmental protection so that we can pass on pure lands to future generations.
