Interpretation signs along Trails and at Scenic Spots in Yangmingshan National Park Are Currently Undergoing Renovation Due to Environmental Changes and Environmental Education Purposes

Due to environment changes and environmental education requirements, as well as the fact that a certain portion of informational systems and trails in the Park have exceeded their service life, the Headquarters has re-examined, integrated and designed the informational systems at the scenic spots and trails since 2010 so as to provide visitors the latest information and a more friendly and diverse self-guide tour.

In addition to the original informational board, the directional signs and the mileage boards, to reduce the impact on the natural environment caused by physical informational signs, the Headquarters combined information communication technology (ICT) and developed a wholly new “interpretation sign." Ten different hand-drawn icons are attached to the sign. Visitors may use their mobile devices to scan the QR code on the icons and receive pictures and explanations tallied with the topic of the informational post. Please note that the hand-drawn icons on the post are not the informational pictures of the topic.

The Headquarters has completed the planning and construction of the interpretation signs along the trails in Mt. Qixing and Mt. Datun since 2010. The trail system of Qingtiangang and the interpretation signs at the Headquarters Visitor Centers, Xiaoyoukeng and Datun Nature Park will be renovated and completed this year. In 2014, the construction of the pedestrian separation system and the renovations at Longfenggu and Shuang Creek area will all be completed. Visitors may use innovative technology to experience the environmental education program provided by the national park. More information about the Park's trails and scenic spots can be found on the official Park website. (http://www.ymsnp.gov.tw)
