The ”2013 Yangmingshan National Park Cultural Landscape Photography Contest ” Is Here! You are invited to be a part of recording the cultural and natural landscape of Yangmingshan!
Yangmingshan National Park covers Shilin and Beitou of Taipei City as well as the mountainous areas of Tamsui, Sanzhi, Shimen, Jinshan, and Wanli in New Taipei City. Various cultures developed quite early in this area, such as groups of the Pingpu tribe as well as the agricultural, economic, and religious activities of Han Chinese. These humanistic activities have enriched the history of Yangmingshan. For instance, Jinbaoli Trail links Jinshan and Taipei. In the past, our ancestors had to carry their fish catch to Shilin along this road. This trail was involved in people's economic, industry, traffic, and religious activities. Economic activities flourished in this area as well, such as sulfur and gold mining, rice farming, collecting of bamboo shoots, indigo dye crafts, and cattle grazing. Traditional stone historic houses, Japanese hot spring architecture, old irrigation ditches, terraced fields, and the fantastical sight of the Bayan area are all unique cultural landscape which can be found in Yangmingshan National Park.
To encourage people to capture inspiring shots of how human's have left their mark on the landscape in the park, Yangmingshan National Park has organized the "2013 Yangmingshan National Park Cultural Landscape Photography Contest " in hopes of gathering a series of cultural resources through photographs and text descriptions of the pictures taken.
