The 2012 ”International Biodiversity Day” series of events helps us recognize the importance of insects, fish, birds, beasts, flowers, plants, and trees of the natural world and work together to record their stunning biodiversity!

Every year, May 22 is the International Biodiversity Day. Every year on this day, countries hold related activities to remind the public the importance of biodiversity and promote the three main goals established by the Convention on Biodiversity: conservation of biodiversity, sustainable use of its components, and fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources.
In the past ten years, topics of interest in the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity include biodiversity and invasive alien species management, forest biodiversity, poverty reduction and its challenges on sustainable development, safeguarding the food, water and health of all humankind, the changing world of life support systems, the protection of arid ecosystem biodiversity, biodiversity and climate change, ensuring food security, preventing intrusion of alien species, biodiversity is life and environmental sustainability in 2012 (the Third Earth Summit), green economy, and more!

You are invited to participate in the actual BioBlitz explorers’ project and become an amateur investigator! Together, what can we do to change in our daily attitude towards life? How can we continue to innovate sustainable energy solutions to find good ways to solve environmental problems?
