The fire mobilized over one hundred police and volunteer firefighters. Because of their efforts, the fire was contained and has now been extinguished. The fire covered an area of twenty hectares of mostly grasslands, followed by broad-leaved forests and scattered Ryukyu pines. Residue fires continued to start and fire areas continued to spread. The aerial fire department sent out aerial sixteen firefighting helicopters and set up waterlines and finally extinguished the fire.
