Two-year ban on the picking of arrow bamboo

On January 22, 2009, the Headquarters again invited experts and conservation organization to meet on-site and discovered the underground stems of the arrow bamboo were still small and the number of plants unstable. On top of this there is still competition between arrow bamboo and silver grass for territory; picking bamboo shoots would harm the habitat and cause an invasion of silver grass. Based on the above reasons, bamboo shoot picking is prohibited. The ban on arrow bamboo picking will last for two years until December 31, 2010, at which time lifting of the ban will be subjugated to deliberation.
