Animal Rescue

Yangmingshan National Park has a large animal population and many injured or lost animals are reported to us by tourists and local residents. After a routine check, if the reported animal is unharmed, the park quickly releases it back into its native habitat. In the event that an animal is injured, the park transfers it to the appropriate medical facility. For example, if a bird is injured, it is transported to an animal hospital that cooperates with the Wild Bird Society of Taipei. Mammals are transferred to Taipei Zoo. Stray dogs and cats are transferred to the Animal Protection Office of the Taipei City Government for care.

Based on the love of nature, respect for all life, and effort to reduce the negative impact human activities have on local wild animals, the park hosts educational events and conferences, discourages the public from placing traps and hunting wild animals, releasing animals indiscriminately and destroying the habitat, letting pets into the ecological protected area and causing the spread of disease, etc. Relevant information is available on the park’s website for the public to promote environmental conservation.
